Duke the Dog

Submitted by: Kristy Rowland

This is our dog Duke. He has seperation issues. We got him from the West Vancouver Shelter where he was given up by his previous owners. At first all he did was rip up the bed we left in the cage for him. Then it was towels, lots and lots of towels. He then become our own Houdini and escaping from his cage. Many a times we have arrived home from being out to find our perfect little dog out of his cage. We could never figure out how he managed it. Then we realized that he was able to open the locks on the door. We started by adding 1 carabiner to keep him in. He still got out. Then we added 2, then 3, then 4. We still came home to a destroyed house, food eaten, the wood on the cupboards ripped down, poop and pee in the bedrooms and both the blinds in the living room and bedroom bent and broken. He has a fondness for chocolate granola bars, which we need to hide on the top shelf of the cupboards now. He also has figured out how to get on top of our TV entertainment unit and eat the fish food. So as you can see in the picture, he now has to be kept in by 10 guage wire all along the cages' door. All we would like is to leave our dog at home but it seems like a dream. I hope that this will change that.
