All around fixer-upper!

Hi there! I have an almost 5 year old shepard\lab cross! His name is Ranger and he's amazing. Quite honestly most of his problem is me! I thought I did my homework but not enough. He barks at motorcycles incessantly, will chase them if given the opportunity(he snapped his collar during a walk in order to get at the motorcycle) He may or may not like strangers when they come to the house. I muzzle him every time someone comes to the door or in the house. The mailman and newspaper lady are uncomfortable, and he REALLY deslikes other dogs, INTENSELY. For some of these issues I have a possible explanation as to why they are happening, but I lack the knowledge on how to correct them. Others, I place the blame solely on me and my lack of trust in him, but again I don't have the knowledge to fix the problem, yet! Please, help me and Ranger. He is amazing with my children and is a valued member of our family, but I need to solve these problems with him. I don't want him to hurt anyone or himself, please help us. I love my Ranger and sincerely hope you will pick us to help. Thanks for your time :)
