I saw this picture and ad up at the local feed store and thought to myself I have a good home 17 acres to play on an adult dog for a buddy for this little guy I think I need him so I called the number got the details. Baxter is a Mastiff/Great Dane/Red Heeler cross I went and met him fell in love and brought my little bundle of joy home....Spring ahead 2 years, $7000-$8000 in destruction/vet bills later and my "free" dog has me pulling my hair out. He DESTROYED my house when I left him inside Heirloom quilts, pillows, duvets, a number of expensive undergarments, cordless phones, remote controls...nothing was safe everything I own has toothmarks...except for the dog toys they're in mint condition. I started taking him with me everywhere I have a crew cab lots of room I'm never gone for very long so I figured I'll take him with me so I can keep an eye on him. Everything was perfect for about a year he lulled me into a false sense of security I came out of the grocery store and hopped in my beautiful new F-150 fully loaded every option available truck and what did I see? My stitched leather dash completely shredded and Baxter sitting in the back seat looking innocent...except that telltale black strip of leather hanging out of his mouth. Frustration overtook me I went home cried for awhile yelled at my husband (I' m not sure why I thought to do this but it made me feel better) So I started keeping him outside, Baxter really took destruction to an entirely different level, trees, the house siding, the deck, holes in the lawn, anything that he could rip apart and then he started taking off for tours around the countryside usually returning with porcupine quills stuck all over his body (17 times so far) So I tried tying him up when I went into town I came home to a empty collar every time. Finally I found a wireless fence....YAY!! my problems are solved he can roam around on half an acre of bare land can't do much damage there right? RIGHT...for awhile, then he learned that if you stay on the close to the perimeter of it it beeps continously and in about 2 days the batteries are dead and he's on the loose again. The Quad was the latest victim he shredded the seat and ripped out all the wiring of my much loved and much needed quad is dead dead dead. He's looking at me right now from his position laying upside down on my very expensive very covered in dog hair chaise lounge looking innocent and content...or maybe he's plotting his next phase of destruction...
